Herbert Luck North, architect, was born in Leicester in 1871. He was educated at Uppingham School and Jesus College, Cambridge where he took his BA. He was articled in London where he worked as an assistant to Sir Edwin Lutyens before setting up an architectural consortium there. In 1897 he married Maude Davis with whom he had one daughter. He moved north at the beginning of the 20th century to set up a practice and build a home in Lllanfairfechen. There he became interested in the buildings of Snowdonia. His published works include The Old Churches of Arllechwedd (1906). He died on 9 February 1941.
