Killochan (also known as Killochen Castle, Kilochan, Killockan)4016

Dailly, Scotland

Brief Description

Killochan Castle stands on the north bank of the Water of Girvan within a block of mixed woodland.

History

The land at Killochan has associations with the Cathcart Clan going back to at least the 14th century. The castle was built in the late-16th century and appears to have been well-endowed with woodland and orchards by the 17th century. During the 18th century a parkland landscape was developed and by the mid-19th century the house sat in a block of planting. The property passed out of the Cathcart family in the 20th century.
